dattala CEO Yuki Ishihara Speaks at Kobe University's 5th KAIRO-DS Social Symposium

On August 31, 2026, Yuki Ishihara, CEO of dattala Co., Ltd., spoke at the 5th KAIRO-DS Social Symposium and Interdisciplinary Networking BAR, held at Kobe University's Rokkodai Second Campus.
KAIRO-DS—the Kobe Academic Interdisciplinary Research Organization with Data Science—is an interdisciplinary community led by Kobe University's Center for Mathematical and Data Sciences (CMDS). It uses data science as a shared foundation for collaboration across academic fields.
Connecting Researchers Across Disciplines Through Data Science
The fifth Social was KAIRO-DS's first university-wide symposium. With Kobe University President Masato Fujisawa in attendance, eight early-career researchers presented work from four broad academic areas: humanities and human sciences, social sciences, data science and natural sciences, and life and medical sciences. Each speaker also shared a view of how their research could develop through interdisciplinary collaboration.
When researchers encounter the questions and methods of other fields, new research themes and partnerships can emerge beyond the boundaries of a single laboratory. Through its monthly Social gatherings, KAIRO-DS is building a network that connects researchers and students and supports interdisciplinary research and education.
Discussing How Open Source Can Connect Universities and Companies
Ishihara joined the panel discussion “Connecting Universities and Companies Through Open Source.”
The panel explored university–industry collaboration through open source and introduced dattala's work communicating data science through its media activities.

Connecting university research and data with society requires places where researchers and companies can combine their expertise and share both results and unresolved challenges. Open source and media can bring specialist knowledge beyond its original field and create new opportunities for collaboration.
Bringing Research and Society Closer Together
As a Kobe University-affiliated venture, dattala develops businesses and provides technical support using AI and data science. Through the AI and data publication DATA WORLD, the company also presents technologies, data and initiatives from companies and research institutions in ways that are accessible beyond specialist communities.
dattala will build on this symposium appearance to develop new connections between researchers and companies, and between research outcomes and society.
